Focus On The Good!

Life can really get you down. I am sure whomever reading this is not adversed to struggle, disappointment, and over all sadness.  Being in my mid to late 20’s I am surprised to still find people who will try to invalidate your successes. Haven’t we all passed this grad school drama yet ? Guess not.

    I can genuinely say when one of my girlfriends says she is pumped about a new career advance or a new love interest, I feel the joy with her! One of the best things you can do for a friend, family member or coworker is encourage them and celebrate with them!

I’m no fool though, I know when you’re having a bad day, week or even year (Friends reference 😉  ) its easy to want to run away from things or say some things you don’t mean. The truth is, it can happen and I 130%  can understand, my ask for you reading this is to self reflect before it gets to the point were you want to project negative emotions on others. We need to know that someone else’s happiness is not a measuring tool of were our happiness stands.

So what can you and I do to be a better, coworker, friend, cousin, aunt, uncle, brother, sister, mother, father, 3rd removed cousin (etc.) ?

  1. Stop saying things you don’t mean! I mean it, its super easy for some of us to say something because it’s funny and not realizing we’re hurting someone else. Typically something is bothering us and instead of dealing with it, we project negativity on others.
  2. Stay positive in your own head. If you’re having a negative day, listen to an uplifting song, and or go to the gym to work off the demons. No one wants to be around a negative nancy.
  3. If the workout and upbeat song didn’t lift your mood, reach out to a friend and talk though it. Venting to a close friend is said to improve your attitude! Also, sometimes its just nice to get somethings off your chest.

You’re probably wondering, whats this blog all about? I wrote this blog in hope of pushing myself and others to a more positive outlook on life. I truly believe when we focus on the good, we are happier, live more productive lives and good things happen!
