There is no greater comfort than a well dressed home. Whether you need your home to be more presentable for the marketplace or you’re hosting a family dinner party! The way you dress your home can show your friends and family your fun creative side!
My top 3 MUST before entertaining or when I am preparing a seller for professional pictures are the following..
1. Deep Clean!
I know I say this a lot but think about how you feel when you enter a clean home verses a dirty one. A clean home is inviting and it makes you want to kick your shoes off and stay awhile. Hopefully you don’t actually kick your shoes off, but you get the picture. I personally make a list room by room of what I am going to clean and check off items as completed. This does a few things for me. For one it holds me accountable, two it ensures I don’t miss anything and finally, once its all checked off I feel accomplished!
This really is a no brainer right? You would be surprised, it gets so easy to start to stack unwanted items in one drawer and then piling over to another drawer and so on. This happens to the best of us. I, myself am hyper focus on not having a cluttered home after growing up with four older bothers! The truth is even though I am anti clutter, I can have lapse in decluttered land from time to time and my clutter starts to pile up.
Once this happens I revisit my list method and write a list of all the areas in the home that feel cluttered visually to a guest and then I make another list of all the secret cluttered areas and work on removing them all one by one. This includes my obsession with cleaning supplies and candles!
3. Cute decorations that represent you!
I know what you’re thinking, isn’t this kind of clutter. Well it is in a sense, but it’s also art in another. I love going into a friends home or clients and finding out they are a total retro chick stuck in the 70’s or they are really into antiques like me!
Having decorations help make life fun and if you’re listing your home it can show a potential buyer how much the home is loved and how they too can live in and love the home.
Tasteful decorations like cute throw pillows, eclectic throw rugs and unique knick knacks can really transform a space. Don’t be afraid to mix and match styles either! I currently have a farmhouse and rustic Italian kitchen style mix in my home and I think it flows beautifully.
Until next time,
